Intended use
An IoT indoor temperature and humidity sensor is ideal for monitoring the indoor climate in a variety of indoor areas, such as offices, warehouses, hospitals, museums or residential buildings. The sensor continuously measures temperature and humidity and transmits this data in real time. The possible applications are diverse and offer numerous advantages:
- Optimizing the indoor climate for comfort and productivity: Monitoring temperature and relative humidity makes it possible to create a comfortable and healthy indoor climate. In offices and schools, this helps to improve concentration and well-being.
- Protection of sensitive materials: In museums, archives and storage rooms where works of art, documents, electronics or other sensitive materials are stored, stable temperatures and controlled humidity are crucial. The sensor helps to maintain optimum storage conditions and prevent damage caused by humidity or temperature fluctuations.
- Energy savings through demand-based climate control: With continuous monitoring of temperature and humidity values, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems can be controlled in a more targeted manner. This saves energy as the air conditioning or heating is only activated when the temperature or humidity is actually outside a desired range.
- Prevention of mold growth and moisture damage: If humidity levels are permanently too high, this can lead to mold growth, which is harmful to health and can cause damage to buildings. The sensor detects critical humidity levels at an early stage and enables preventative measures to be taken, such as ventilation or activation of a dehumidifier.
- Regulation-compliant room monitoring: In certain areas, such as the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare or data centers, there are regulations for maintaining certain temperature and humidity ranges. The sensor supports compliance with such regulations and enables timely action to be taken in the event of deviations.

Assembly and preparation
💡 If the sensor is still easily accessible after installation, first mount the sensor and activate it after installation!
If the sensor is no longer accessible after installation, activate the sensor first and mount it after activation!
📢 Please note
- Before using this type of installation, make sure that the surface to which the sensor is to be screwed is flat, otherwise the housing may be damaged.
- Do not insert any objects or body parts into the ventilation slots of the sensor.
- Do not mount the sensor on the ceiling or floor.
- Do not mount the sensor at heights of more than two meters.
The intended mounting location for the sensor is in normal rooms on the wall at a height of 1.50m to 1.80m. Only use the sensor indoors and not outdoors. Make sure that the LEDs are on the lower right-hand side when mounting.
Wall mounting with screws
- Open the case at the snap closure (see arrow) and remove the top. The PCB is screwed into the top.
- In step two, you will see the bottom of the sensor. For wall mounting you drill holes
into the concrete wall and attach a dowel. Recommended are M3,5 screws DIN7997. If you attach the sensor to wood, you can screw the screws directly into the wood. Once the dowels are fixed in the wall, thread the provided screws through the holes, as shown in step 2. Alternatively, the other two eyelets in the corner can also be used. Attach the bottom/back wall of the case to the desired object. For other fastening methods DIN7991 screws can also be used. - Place the top of the sensor on the attached bottom. Make sure the snap fastener snaps in. Pay attention to the correct mounting direction. The sensor should be mounted as in 3.
Magnetic mounting
Permanent magnets can generate strong magnetic fields, which can be dangerous if handled incorrectly. Therefore, observe the following warnings:
- Protect hands and fingers: Strong magnets can attract suddenly and pinch fingers or skin. This can lead to painful crushing and injuries. Always keep sufficient distance when handling permanent magnets and wear protective gloves if necessary.
- Keep electronic devices away: Magnetic fields can damage electronic devices such as computers, smartphones, credit cards, pacemakers and other sensitive electronics or impair their function. Therefore, always keep a sufficient distance from such devices.
- Be aware of the risk of breakage: Many permanent magnets are made of brittle materials (e.g. neodymium), which can break in the event of sudden impacts or high loads. The splinters can be sharp and cause injuries. Therefore, use the magnets carefully and avoid impacts or excessive loads.
- Health risks: People with pacemakers or other implanted medical devices should avoid contact with strong magnets, as the magnetic fields may interfere with or disable these devices. If necessary, consult a doctor before use.
- Store magnets safely: Keep magnets at a safe distance from each other and from other metallic objects. Sudden attraction can lead to damage, injuries or uncontrollable flying around of the objects.
- Danger for children: Permanent magnets are not toys! Small magnets in particular can be life-threatening if swallowed or inhaled and can cause serious internal injuries. Therefore, always keep magnets out of the reach of children.
- Avoid heating: Permanent magnets permanently lose their magnetic force at temperatures above their maximum operating temperature (between 80 and 200 °C, depending on the material). Therefore, do not expose magnets to direct heat or open flames.
- Open the case at the snap closure (see arrow) and remove the top. The PCB is screwed into the top.
- Insert the screws into the holes and connect them to the magnets.
- Place the top of the sensor on the attached bottom. Make sure that:
the snap fastener locks in. Pay attention to the correct mounting direction.
Commissioning of the sensor
📢 Please note that when using knives or other sharp objects, the case or electronics may be damaged.
- Open the sensor on the tab provided for this purpose (in the picture at the bottom). Use a dull object carefully if necessary.
- Insert the cells now To achieve the specified runtimes and the performance specified in the datasheets, the following primary cells are allowed:
- For LoRaWAN® and mioty® sensors
- Energizer® Ultimate Lithium Batteries – AA
- VARTA ULTRA LITHIUM Mignon AA - For cellular sensors (NB-IoT)
- Energizer® Ultimate Lithium Batteries – AA
- VARTA ULTRA LITHIUM Mignon AA
Each sensor requires 4 cells.
- For LoRaWAN® and mioty® sensors
- The sensor is now open. If you have a NB-IoT sensor and you want to insert your own SIM card, insert the SIM card now.
- If the sensor is now open, press the switch to start the device. After flipping the switch, the sensor starts, the 3 LEDs on the front flash and you can hear a sound sequence. The sensor then performs a measurement. The LED light shows you the result.
NFC parameterization and position of the NFC tag
- Activation takes place via an NFC app. A smartphone is required for this. The app can be downloaded from the respective app stores. Just search for “Sentinum LinQs” and download the LinQs app.
- Locate the tag on the sensor first and then the reader on your device. The position of the NFC tag can be found in the following pictures.
Battery replacement
