Assembly and preparation

💡 If the sensor is still easily accessible after installation, first mount the sensor and activate it after installation!

If the sensor is no longer accessible after installation, activate the sensor first and mount it after activation!

  1. If you have ordered a device with an external antenna, which can be identified by the gold RP-SMA connector, first mount the antenna included in the delivery.
  2. The sensor can be mounted either horizontally or vertically. Use the available holes in the side tabs of the housing for mounting on the wall as well as for magnetic mounting.Untitled (32)
  3. Depending on the design of the sensor and the respective variant, the antenna and outputs for the sensors can be located on either the long or the short side.

💡 External antenna: Please note that the antenna must always be mounted vertically and the tip pointing towards the ceiling. Please tilt the antenna at the joint so that the antenna is always vertically aligned. The external antenna is usually mounted on the long side. The antenna should have a minimum distance of 2 cm from metal surfaces. Make sure that the antenna is not shielded by surrounding metal parts, as far as this allows the application. Internal antenna: If your device has an internal antenna (no external antenna visible), the Helios sensor should always be mounted vertically with the long side, as this allows the maximum signal strength of the device to be reached. The antenna is located at the bottom (opposite the logo side) of the housing and should have a minimum distance of 2 cm from metal surfaces. Make sure that the antenna is not shielded from surrounding metal parts, as far as this allows the application.

📢 Please note: If you get a device with an external antenna, never operate the device without the external antenna! This can cause irreparable damage to the sensor.

NFC Commissioning and location of the NFC tag

💡 The NFC app LinQs can be used to set parameters. Please make sure you know where your NFC reader is located on your mobile device. Depending on the manufacturer and model, the reader may be located on the back of the mobile device, either further up, in the middle, or at the bottom. To reach the NFC tag, set e.g. Read in the app and slowly move the NFC tag on the sensor from top to bottom with your mobile phone.

  1. Activation is done via an NFC app. A smartphone is required for this. The app can be downloaded from the respective app stores. Just search for “Sentinum LinQs” and download the LinQs app.Untitled (24)
  2. Locate the tag on the sensor first and then the reader on your device. The position of the NFC tag can be found in the following pictures.Helios 6 (1)
  3. Open the app and activate the sensor. To start the sensor in the basic settings, click on the button “Activate Sensor” in the start menu of the app. Now place your device on the NFC mark of the sensor.Untitled (14)

When the sensor is activated, you will see “Sensor Updated!”. After that, you can continue with the activation of other sensors.

Commissioning without a mobile device

💡 If you do not have a smartphone at hand, you can also open the sensor and press the marked switch. Slide the switch to the “Off” position, wait at least 10 seconds ,and then slide the switch back to the “On” position. This way, the sensor restarts and begins normal operation (for LoRaWAN, e.g. starting the join loop)

Battery replacement

  1. Open the housing with a dedicated cross slot screwdriver. Carefully remove the lid and make sure that the seal is not damaged.Untitled (34)
  2. Turn off the sensor by flipping the slider to the “off” position before changing the battery.Untitled (33)
  3. Now carefully remove the cells from the intended holder and insert the new cells. In order to achieve the specified runtimes and performance specified in the datasheets, the following primary cells are allowed:

    • Energizer® Ultimate Lithium Batteries – AA
    • VARTA ULTRA LITHIUM Mignon AA

  4. When the exchange is complete, please dispose of the old cells properly. Then, unscrew the housing. Make sure that the original location of the seal has not been changed.

📢 If cells other than the recommended ones are used, performance and product safety may be negatively affected.
